Space and Place: Conceptions of movement and belonging will be held in Adelaide, South Australia on September 19-20 2018.
The aim of this conference is to bring together postgraduate students and early career researchers from across South Australia to share their work and research with their peers and to continue building a collegial and collaborative environment for South Australian and Australian students. This year’s theme aims to explore the concepts of space and place and their intersections with gender, sex, and sexuality in relation to the structural, personal, institutional, cultural, symbolic, epistemic, and discursive. This theme is purposefully broad and can be applied to any number of issues, theoretical and practical, that affect the wider community.
In addition to critical and creative conference papers, we are seeking visual art displays that interrogate, explore or speak to the conference theme. Submissions can come from postgraduate students who participate in art outside of their studies, current art students at any institution in SA, recently graduated artists, and local emerging artists.
Artists, please note that you must be able to install the art piece at the conference yourself – we will not be responsible for producing prints, other than those used on programs and other conference materials (representative art piece only). Artists will retain the rights to their art and will not be paid or otherwise compensated for their contributions.
Visual art submissions are ongoing | Submissions may include multiple art pieces
